Organizers donate the money to quake-hit Sichuan Province.
The World Expo tour exhibition today stopped in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian Province, as the Expo promotion week kicked off.
Expo organizers canceled the opening ceremony of the tour exhibition which was scheduled this morning in Fuzhou and donated the budget for the ceremony to Sichuan Province which was hit by a strong earthquake on Monday.
The Fujian Promotion Week will last from May 17 to 23. The main attraction is the 1,200-square-meter World Expo tour exhibition, which has already attracted more than 800,000 people in ten cities in China.
Highlights in the exhibition include Fujian combs, lacquerware and paper umbrella, which were all awarded golden medal in previous World Expos.
Accompanied by Zhong Yanqun, fulltime deputy director of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai Executive Committee, Ye Shuangyu, vice governor of Fujian Province, visited the exhibition in the morning.
Ye said Fujian will actively participate in the event and use the Expo platform to showcase Fujian's glamour.
Fujian has already established a special committee to prepare for their exhibition in Shanghai Expo.
The province has also proposed four candidates for the theme of Fujian exhibition and asked the public for opinions during the promotion week.
Lectures and forums will also mark the promotion week. The organizers will bring smaller scale Expo exhibitions to local universities in Fuzhou.
