By the dawn of the 2010 World Expo, Shanghai will have 12 Metro lines in service, including Line 13, a new link that's now under construction and will run across the Huangpu River to connect the two Expo zones.

The main structure of the Xizang Road S. vehicle tunnel was completed early this year.

The tunnel will serve Expo traffic during the event and will be open to all traffic after the Expo finishes.

The construction of Line 13 is scheduled to be completed on February 28, 2010 and the new link is expected to transport about 30 percent of the visitors attending the event. The special World Expo line is 5 kilometers long and will have five stations. It will connect with Metro Line 10, 9 and 7.
