Danish fashion designers now have the opportunity to be part of the Danish Expo 2010 fairytale.
Lene Espersen, Minister for Economic and Business Affairs of Denmark, on Tuesday announced the launch of the Expo fashion competition at the opening of the Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Espersen invited Danish fashion designers to submit their bids for a full clothing and accessories collection for staff at the Denmark pavilion at World Expo 2010.
Denmark's participation in Expo 2010 is a golden opportunity for the country to showcase its architecture and design, among others, said Espersen.
Danish fashion enjoys an excellent reputation around the world and the assignment of creating a collection for the pavilion staff in Shanghai will be given to a Danish fashion designer, according to Espersen.
The design competition aims to create a full collection for the Expo staff present at the pavilion, including guides as well as shop, cafe and administrative personnel.
The collection will support the pavilion concept - Welfairytales. Welfairytales is a unifying tale of Denmark's unique potential, as narrated from elements shared by Denmark and China.
The designs should be functional and innovative in terms of style and choice of materials, and sustainability and CSR perspectives should be integrated elements in the solution.
The total prize is DKK 150,000 (US$25,800) with the first prize of DKK 75,000.
The proposal should be submitted no later than August 3.
