Germany has begun receiving applications for 200-plus job posts at Germany Pavilion.
According to Germany's official World Expo 2010 Website, the pavilion is looking for people who have a good or extraordinary command of both Chinese and German. Knowledge of English is also desirable.
A series of jobs available at the pavilion include 180 guides, 20 assistants for pavilion management, cultural events, press and VIP relations as well as eight drivers among other jobs.
In addition, applicants should be "friendly, communicative, flexible, reliable and able to work under pressure." Other requirements include good team players, service-oriented thinking, confidence and a smart appearance, the Website states.
Guides will explain exhibits, help direct visitors, ensure smooth running of the pavilion as well as accompany delegations during their visit to the Expo Site if necessary.
Staff members at the pavilion will be paid between 1,200 euros (US$1,560) and 1,500 euros per month. Shared accommodation and travel to and from Shanghai will be covered, according to the Website.
Staff must be available for the duration of Expo 2010 from May 1 to October 31, 2010, as well as for a training phase that will start around March 2010.
The deadline for applications is April 30. Applications can be made online at www.expo2010-deutschland.de/informieren/jobs. Inquiries can be forwarded to personal-expo2010@koelnmesse.de.
The 6,000-square-meter Germany Pavilion named "Balancity" will operate from 9:30am to 10:30pm. It will showcase German urban life and how the country's design and products can help solve urbanization problems.
