Mexico to mix tradition with future

Mexico will put on show its persistent efforts in pursuing a better living at the World Expo 2010. Its exhibition will involve its heritage, culture, future and dreams.
The country signed its participation contract with the organizer in Shanghai today. Its theme is "Living Better: Heritage and Future."

It will build a 4,000-square-meter pavilion to show how the country seeks a desirable life with a future-oriented mind by protecting the environment, ensuring sound education for its children, creating more jobs as well as maintaining harmonious ties between the city and its dwellers, said Eduardo Seldner Avila, Mexico's commissioner general for the country's Expo participation.
A public appeal for designs for the pavilion has so far received more than 500 proposals from throughout Mexico. Construction of the pavilion is expected to start before May 1.
The national pavilion day of Mexico during the Expo will be on September 16, 2010, Vila confirmed.
Hong Hao, director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, said Sino-Mexican friendship and cooperation have being developing since the two sides established diplomatic relationships in 1972.
He believes Mexico's exhibition which takes both tradition and the future into consideration, will provide a lesson worth learning for countries pursuing a sustainable development. Hong expects a fantastic show by Mexico.

A total of 184 participants have signed participation contracts.
