Living Water Park Return the Clarity to Nature Chengdu’s UBPA Case
Date:26/03/2009

Case: Living Water Park of Chengdu City
Location: Within the simulated urban block at the north UBPA
Area: Around 2,600 Square Meters
Key Word: Living Water
Case Prototype:

The Living Water Park, located in the city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province, is the first city ecological park in China with Water as its theme. The public park is located in downtown along the Fu River, Chengdu’s mother river.
The park contains an artificial wetland working as a natural water purification system, a simulated natural forestry community, and an environmental education center, to demonstrate the processes how the polluted and dead water is cleaned and made alive.
The Living Water Park is a modern park combined with contemporary images, orient wisdom, and features of traditional Chinese garden, containing significant cultural, artistic and ecological values. The delicate design of the park focuses on configuration of plants, landscape plan, and selection of building materials. It is a successful city constructed wetland as well as a complete and vivid model, demonstrating the theme of environment in many aspects.

Case Highlights:
The park can collect the rainwater and sewage, which will be treated and recycled through a natural water purification system in an effective way, to showcase the living water ideas and arouse people’s awareness of water conservation.
For a better presentation in the UBPA at Expo 2010, the case will be updated and improved with input of more exhibition elements, such as the living water cultural exhibition, the application of refuse and eco-friendly materials in park-making, and the incorporation of local culture into landscape design in a systematic way.
