The eastern Mediterranean island country of Cyprus will spotlight the interaction between nature and construction, history and future, and tradition and scientific discoveries at Expo Shanghai.
The country will create a "city of interaction" in a joint pavilion for European countries, where it will also share a blueprint for the future and the country's rich culture and lifestyle, Lazaros S. Savvides, commissioner general for Cyprus at Expo 2010 said yesterday.
The country signed a participation contract at the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.
Hong Hao, director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, said China and Cyprus have shared a long friendship since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1971.
"The government of Cyprus attaches great importance to the Expo as it appointed the commission general as early as March, 2007," Hong said.
