Haibao
Created from a Chinese character meaning people, the mascot "Haibao" embodies the character of Chinese culture.

International Exhibitions Bureau, established in Paris, in 1928, regulates the frequency and quality of exhibitions falling within its remit.

Uruguay signs up for Expo

The Oriental Republic of Uruguay signed a participation contract for the 2010 World Expo via mail yesterday.

The country will display in a joint pavilion for Central and South America countries. It has already appointed Luis Leonardo Almagro Lemes, Uruguayan ambassador to China, as Uruguay's commissioner general for the 2010 Expo.

To date, 206 participants have signed the contract.
