Hangzhou is promoting its Urban Best Practices Area display which will showcase its water control practices and let visitors experience the charm of water.
The promotion is at the Expo Exhibition Center in downtown Shanghai's Luwan District.
The display promotion was unveiled yesterday. It also features the city's famous West Lake Expo which can be dated back to 1929.
Hangzhou's innovative initiatives in its UBPA exhibition include a pentagonal pavilion with blue bricks that contain water collected from lakes and rivers.
Visitors will be able to discover how water flows and the tide works when they step on special sections of the exhibition. A cartoon figure named "Shuiwa" will lead visitors through the exhibition.
The project, "Harnessing Five Waters," involves Hangzhou's West Lake, the Qiantang River, canals, the Xixi Wetland and the East China Sea.
Hangzhou hopes to present the image of a quality city in its UBPA display, Zhang Jianting, vice mayor of Hangzhou said yesterday.
Hangzhou has also launched its official Website for Expo 2010 (www.hzexpo2010.com), which provides all the latest information about the city's preparation as well as updates of the 2010 Expo. Only the Chinese version is currently available.
