The cute blue figure of the 2010 World Expo mascot Haibao lands today in Shenyang, capital city of Liaoning Province, heralding the start of a five-day promotional campaign.
A Haibao statue was unveiled in front of the Shenyang International Exhibition Center, welcoming visitors all over the world.
Liaoning officials and officials from the 2010 World Expo toured an Expo-themed exhibition following the ceremony. The exhibition features the master plan and updates of the grand event as well as the evolution of world expositions, and shows how Expos have promoted human civilization in a display of about 200 photos.
Xu Weiguo, deputy Party chief of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, said he hopes Liaoning people would give more support to the Expo, closely follow its progress and participate in the event, as such an undertaking requires nationwide support and participation.
Liaoning is the 25th leg of the national Expo promotional tour.
