Snacks every five minutes at Expo
Date:02/11/2009
The World Expo 2010 organizer announced the last batch of 25 catering service providers for public areas in the Expo site late last week.
Restaurants and eateries will offer fast food, classic Chinese and overseas cuisine, bread, vegetarian food, coffee and snacks in a 20,000-square-meter area in the Puxi section.
All three batches of 100-plus eateries have been selected after a 10-month solicitation.
Public surveys indicate that 75 percent of visitors will eat in the Expo site as they will spend an average of six to seven hours there. The organizer estimates that the peak day visitor flow will reach 600,000 and the average day 400,000.
The catering area for every 1,000 visitors will be 200 square meters, compared with the 109 square meters at Aichi Expo in 2005.
According to the plan, there will be around 40 catering spots in the site so visitors can find food within a five-minute walk.
