Haibao
Created from a Chinese character meaning people, the mascot "Haibao" embodies the character of Chinese culture.

International Exhibitions Bureau, established in Paris, in 1928, regulates the frequency and quality of exhibitions falling within its remit.

Expo Shanghai Online clinches award for innovation

Expo Shanghai Online, a virtual version of the real Expo, won the innovation award of the China International Industry Fair 2009 on Saturday. The online Expo made its debut at the fair, providing a fun experience to visitors who could tour virtual pavilions with the click of a computer mouse.

Hundreds of pavilions will have their displays online, using three-dimensional and multi-media technologies to make the Expo an "everlasting" event.

The Chinese version of Expo Shanghai Online is due to go live at www.expo.cn on Thursday, with the English version available next January.
