Experts and scholars yesterday gathered in Shanghai's Qingpu District to discuss the protection of water towns and cultural heritage.
In the Expo-themed forum, attendees shared their visions on maintaining a balance of protecting water village landscapes and promoting urban development. They presented suggestions for the scientific planning of water towns and the preservation of folk art and crafts.

Qingpu is home to Zhujiajiao Water Village, which once was known as the Pearl of Jiangnan (the region in south of the lower reaches of Yangtze River). It has been one of the most popular tourist attractions for years.
