Five Nordic countries on Wednesday extended their solidarity to the Expo 2010 sphere by jointly holding a promotional fair.
The Nordic Council of Ministers, commissioners general of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden and their ambassadors in China, promoted the splendor and charm of their countries at the fair in Beijing.
A Nordic-Chinese Energy and Climate Day will be launched on June 25 during the Expo. A forum then will bring together ministers, business leaders, researchers and others from China and the Nordic region. A children's film festival is also on the agenda.
Commissioners general voiced solidarity that they hoped the Expo would help boost the profile of Nordic countries among Chinese in addition to its tourism charm.
The five countries made a joint show at the Aichi Expo. Given the scale of the Shanghai Expo and Nordic countries' attention on the cooperation with China, "we decided to build separate pavilions at the 2010 Expo," said Annika Rembe, commissioner general of the Swedish Pavilion.
Trond Giske, Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, said Nordic countries would continue their close cooperation in the Expo and share their visions and interpretations over "Better City, Better Life" with other countries.
He invited Chinese people to Nordic countries' pavilions and welcomed more Chinese enterprises and institutions to conduct trade and cultural exchanges.
