Shanxi starts pavilion work

Shanxi Province has begun its pavilion construction and exhibition arrangement, which will spotlight the province's history and culture, energy and future at the upcoming Expo.
The entrance of the pavilion will feature traditional Chinese wooden Dougong brackets fixed layer upon layer. Inside, visitors will be able to explore Shanxi's World Heritage sites - the Yungang Grottoes, the ancient city of Pingyao and Mount Wutai.
Its traditional culture such as paper-cutting and piyingxi (shadow puppet play) will also be on display.
The exhibition will cover 600 square meters.
With the theme of civilization and energy, the province aims to show its splendid and long history, its current development and future planning to the world, Han Heping, deputy secretary general of the Shanxi government, said yesterday at a ceremony marking the occasion.
