The emblem, depicting the image of three people-you, me, him/her holding hands together, symbolizes the big family of mankind.

Mascot

Created from a Chinese character meaning people, the mascot "Haibao" embodies the character of Chinese culture.

BIE

International Exhibitions Bureau, established in Paris, in 1928, regulates the frequency and quality of exhibitions falling within its remit.

South Africa receives pavilion

The organizer of the upcoming World Expo yesterday handed over a rented pavilion to South Africa.

Wu Yunfei, counselor of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, signed the hand-over memorandum with Vika M Khumalo, South Africa's commissioner general and consul general in Shanghai.

Wu briefed Khumalo on the updates of Expo 2010.

At the Expo South Africa will display how the country has improved people's living conditions, eliminated racial and sexual discrimination and achieved a brand-new image as a harmonious society.
