Date:28/02/2010
Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng has urged all government departments, districts and work units to implement the “scientific outlook on development” in hosting the forthcoming 2010 World Expo in the city.
“Hosting the World Expo now provides an opportunity for the largest scale implementation of the scientific outlook on development and it also represents a comprehensive test for the effectiveness of the study and practice campaign,” Yu said at a city meeting on concluding the study and practice campaign for implementation of the scientific outlook on Saturday.
Yu pointed out that all good practices and experiences accumulated during the 18-month study and practice campaign should be adopted and introduced into the city’s endeavor in preparing and hosting the 2010 World Expo, which will officially open on May 1.
A successful, splendid and unforgettable 2010 Expo should be a key task for Shanghai this year, Yu said.
And the Expo should be turned into a driving force behind Shanghai's sustainable development as it can be deemed as a good opportunity for the city’s economic restructuring, Yu added.
Top city leaders attended the meeting.
