Date:06/03/2010
Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng said yesterday that Shanghai will spare no efforts for the success of Expo 2010 during Shanghai delegation's discussion at China's legislative annual meeting in Beijing.
It is a mission which the country and all Chinese people have assigned to the people of Shanghai to host a successful, splendid and unforgettable Expo 2010, Yu told Shanghai members of the National People’s Congress.
Shanghai will follow President Hu Jintao's instructions on Expo 2010, Yu added. Shanghai will mobilize people and grassroots Party organs to complete the Expo 2010 successfully with support of other provinces, he said.
In the meanwhile, Shanghai will accelerate the upgrading of its economic structure this year, Yu said. Shanghai will focus on enhancing innovation, saving energy and protecting environment, reforming and opening up as well as beefing up quality of ordinary people's lives, Yu added.
Shanghai will intensify training of officials and better implement the mainstream philosophy of scientific development, Yu said. Shanghai officials should pay more attention to the demands of grassroots people, find better solutions for their problems and better mobilize the public, he said.
Shanghai should try its best to win the “battle” of hosting a successful Expo 2010 and at the same time building a better economy mix for the city’s future development this year, he said.
