Texas delegation visits Expo

Texas economic development and tourism delegation led by state Governor Rick Perry has arrived Shanghai. They will participate in “Salute to Texas Week” held in USA Pavilion between June 13 and 19. Texas delegation is trying to strengthen connections with Shanghai in economic development as well as tourism and promoting cultural communications with other parts of China.
During “Salute to Texas Week,” Expo visitors can go to various entertainment events organized by the Lone Star state, including cowboy rope show by Kevin Fitzpatrick and live concert by Marshal Ford Swing Orchestra. Visitors will also have the chance to interact with American astronauts. Other events include trade, investment and tourism development forum and a Texas fashion show.
Among all the countries with business and individual tourism connections with the United States, China has become one of the fastest growing markets. In 2008, 52,000 Chinese traveled to Texas. Moreover, China has become the thirst largest export partners of Texas, buying 5 percent of total exports from Texas.
“We are very pleased to visit Shanghai to display our economic development and tourist sites,” said Governor Perry. “Expo provides a unique opportunity to expand our connections with Shanghai. Texas wishes to promote job opportunities, business investment chances and tourism attractions to Chinese public through Shanghai World Expo.”
