The Texas Week today started at the USA Pavilion with cowboys from Texas showing off their skills amid American country music at a performance this noon.
The show will continue on the stage in front of the pavilion through June 18, when the week-long culture activities wrap up. Bands from Texas will also join in the performances.
Texas Governor Rick Perry announced the opening of the week. Texas and China are good trading partners for each other and Texas is one of the economic centres of the United States, Perry said. He appreciated Chinese people's hospitality and welcomed them to the USA Pavilion.
Jose Villarreal, Commissioner General of the United States, was present at the opening ceremony.
