Sibongile Khumalo is South Africa's first lady of song: the most celebrated member of a musical dynasty marked by an extraordinary vocal gene-pool and passion for making music; a singer who exemplifies and crowns the rich and multi-sourced Southern African singing tradition.
Deborah Fraser is a South African gospel artist with a solo career spanning close to decade and more than a million units sold, cementing her status as a singer of incomparable power in the tradition of richly melodious, faith-based pleasant music.
She is a multi-platinum seller and multi awarding winning artists at the South African Music Awards and winner of the first SABC Crown Gospel Music award in the Best Female Artist category, amongst other awards.
Deborah Fraser is a superstar who patiently waited for her time to come - and now it's her time.
However, Debs, as she is populary known in music circles at home and in the United States of America by artists of repute, does not want to be regarded as the ''superstar''.
Ever since she burst into the publics consciousness as the lead vocalist and songwriter of Award-winning group Bongo Maffin, Thandiswa Mazwai has been an indelible part of the South African cultural landscape. Today, Thandiswa is a multi-award winning, double platinum selling artist with as string of award ranging from South African Music Awards, Kora awards, Metro fm Awards, nmination for BBC World Music Awards. Her performance is electrifying, ethnocentric and yet soulful.
Soprano opera artist Loveline Madumo, is one of the first black opera singers in South Africa who was first exposed to classical music by her violin-plying brother. Bernard. But her breakthrough came in 1995 when she, together with a friend, Dipuo Moagi, were noticed by a State Theatre talent search team in Ga-Rankuma and promptly invited for auditions and would later join The Black Tie Ensemble (BTE) during 1999. With her outstanding vocal capability, Loveline would in 2001 later travel to China, Shanghai and Hong Kong as part of the ensemble and again with BTE to Vienna in 2004 and to Nagoya, Japan in 2005. Her commanding vocal ability as an opera singer has earned her respect and recognition both inside and outside the country.
