BARRICA COMPANY OF MARANHAO

We are an artistic group from S?o Luís, Maranh?o, in northeastern of Brazil, South America, with twenty-five years of permanent actuation, centered in the valorization and affirmation of Brazilian popular culture. The group presents a variety of dances, rhythms, songs and apparel from the greatest traditional feasts of Brazil: The festivity of S?o Jo?o, which occurs every June, and the Carnival, in February.

Barrica Company of Maranh?o, with its gracious choreography, fervent drumming and distinctive properties, has represented Brazil in many world-wide expositions, as on Expo América 92, in Buenos Aires, Argentina; on Expo Taejon 93, in South Korea; on Expo Lisbon 98, in Portugal and on Expo Hannover 2000, in Germany and also in other great events in France, Canada, United States, Mexico, Greece, Japan, Italy and United Arab Emirates.

Rewarded with the Cultural Merit Order of Brazil, Barrica Company of Maranh?o is honored to participate of Expo Shanghai 2010, in China, a country of magnificent millenary culture, giving its contribution to the realization of social magnitude projects as this one, that promotes the interchange among people and nations, aiming at preserving LIFE on Earth.
