Diastasis Dance Group will represent Cyprus at the World Expo in Shangai with a vibrant program based on the music of Greek composers Vagelis Papathanasiou, Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, Dimitris Layios and the Cypriot composer Vasos Argyrides.

"Born of the waves" is a tribute to Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love who was born of the waves at the coast of Cyprus as the Greek mythology suggests. The performance is also a tribute to the Greek spirit. An experienced dance group is celebrating life itself on stage in a unique way. All the members of the Dance group worked hard to create the necessary atmosphere needed for the performance to come across strong and alive.

Diastasis Dance group is accompanied by traditional Dancers who will enhance the performance with traditional music and dancing.

The performance justifies Diastasis’ reputation. The Greek Cypriot Cultural Association was established twenty five years ago and had the chance to appear in the biggest theatres in London (Her Majesty’s Theatre, The Palace Theatre, Drury Lane, and Cadogan Hall). Over the years it collaborated with world famous artists such as Michalis Cacoyannis, Costas Gavras, George Dalaras, Nana Mouskouri. Both the choir and the dance group of Diastasis appeared in numerous performances all over the world (several times in Athens, London and Moscow, also in St Petersburg, Berlin, Hamburg, Chicago and New York).
