Gaudi's dragon a gift from Barcelona
Date:02/09/2010

Mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, today presented a special gift to Shanghai -- a replica of Antonio Gaudi's dragon, a symbol representing the city of Barcelona.
Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng received the gift at the Barcelona Pavilion, where the Barcelona Special Day was celebrated.
The replica is 3.28 meters long and 1.82 meters high and weighs 12 tons. It will be exhibited at the pavilion and remain permanently in Shanghai after the Expo.
Hereu hoped the replica could bring good luck to the Chinese people as dragon is a strong symbol in China's traditional culture. Shanghai and Barcelona signed a sister city agreement in 2001.
