Date:08/09/2010
The Taipei Pavilion in the Urban Best Practices Area received its 500,000th visitor, a 55-year-old Shanghai resident, yesterday afternoon.
Yang Yijia, the lucky visitor, received a plaque saying "500,000th lucky star" and a gift pack that contained pineapple cakes, LED lights, a digital album, Oolong tea and one-day tickets to Taipei International Flora Expo which will open on November 6.
Yang said it was his first windfall. He visited the World Expo three times.
The pavilion has installed sunlight and rain shelters, mist sprayers and ice cubes to cool the waiting area. It also provides chairs for elderly visitors.
The pavilion features Taipei as a wireless city and a success model in garbage recycling. It has a 3D theater where visitors can have a virtual tour of tomorrow's Taipei.
