Theme: Sustainable beauty of the city

Revolving around the theme of sustainable beauty of the city, Equatorial Guinea will explore ways to reach a balance between urban sustainable development and ecology in the process of urbanization. The pavilion has three exhibition areas: 'Seaside Scenery', 'Energy Exploitation and Utilization' and 'Urban Future', which presents the shared past, present and future of nature and city.
Entering the pavilion on the waves of the sea, the visitors will walk through the Bioko Island, the Benito River, and up to the Pico Basilé Mountain, where the statue of Saint Mary has witnessed the independence of Equatorial Guinea. Beautiful Spanish-style architectures are hidden among coconut groves and cocoa trees. The colorful tropical scenery and the rich fragrance of coffee that fills the whole exhibition area will be teasing the visitors to see, to smell and to taste.
Petroleum flows underneath the feet of Equatorial Guinean. Powered by the exploitation of oil and the construction of infrastructures, the country’s economy continues to keep the good momentum for growth.
In the future, urbanization will be further driven by the continuous exploitation and utilization of energy resources, and the country will become more prosperous in terms of industry, agriculture, tourism and education.
