Expo 2010 Shanghai China

Theme: Small Is Beautiful
Highlights: "Pocket-size" Forest and Fortress
National Pavilion Day: October 10
Pavilion Area: Approximately 3,000 Square Meters
Location: Within Zone C of the Expo site

The pavilion design concept comes from the literal Chinese translation of Luxembourg - "forest and fortress." Its profile is inspired by the medieval tower. The pavilion will be covered with a plant wall conveying the image of a forest with a tower that will be surrounded by greenery.

People-friendly designs including ample entry gates and exits will allow visitors to avoid long lines and ensure a long stay in the pavilion. Visitors may watch video programs, or take a rest while enjoying the beautiful scenery on the green roof. Children can also play in the game area at the open wing tower.

The original ‘Gelle Fra’ (Golden Lady), the most important national symbol of Luxembourg, will travel for the first time outside of the country and rest on a 3 meter high pillar in front of the Luxembourg pavilion awaiting the Expo visitors in Shanghai.
The design presents Luxemburg's reputation as the "Green Heart of Europe" by demonstrating the concept of sustainable development. Built from steel, wood and glass, all recyclable materials, the pavilion will be a perfect example of a modern and comfortable lifestyle.

As another highlight of the pavilion, the restaurant will serve food and beverages from Luxembourg, such as beer, wine, champagne, sausages and traditional dishes, as well as Chinese food.
