The Iceland Pavilion is decorated as an "Ice Cube" made of backlit printed fabric on the exterior. Ice patterns is visible within a "glacier."
Iceland boasts the most active volcanos and geysers in the world, and the largest glacier in Europe. With the meltwater from glaciers running endlessly into rivers and waterfalls, Iceland is blessed for its untouched nature. Such a natural environment has given Iceland rich resources - water power and terrestrial heat. The Iceland Pavilion focuses on the relationship between Icelandic people and nature, introducing how the country has learned to use clean, renewable energy in daily life.
The exterior walls on both sides of the pavilion's main gate is made of block lava to give a three-dimensional appearance to the entrance. Other exterior walls that are covered in printed fabrics showing the landscape of Iceland will come to life with skillful lighting in the evening.
The music of Iceland always impresses us with its purity and profoundness. The Bureau for Icelandic Music Export will introduce Icelandic music to visitors during the Expo. Inspired by nature, musicians from Iceland will perform original music for visitors, sharing with them their understanding of nature.
Temperature in the pavilion in summer will be set at 21 to 22 degrees Celsius, and the humidity will be kept at a comfortable level, simulating the summer in Iceland. Visitors will be able to drink pure natural springwater. Fragrance from Icelandic flowers will instantly transport visitors to Iceland, creating a sense of peace and comfort.
Projection will be used to show the beautiful landscape and urban life in Iceland. Eight projectors inside and outside of the pavilion will create a 360-degree audio-visual effect. Images showing the landscape and people of Iceland will be projected onto the walls. The pavilion will also show a circular-screen movie.
