Shanghai Expo organizers today signed Ernst & Young, one of the world's
top four accounting firms, as financial consultant for the event.
Shanghai Vice Mayor Yang Xiong, Zhong Yanqun, fulltime deputy director of the
World Expo 2010 Shanghai Executive Committee, and Jim Hassett, E & Y's
managing partner of Far East Asia, attended the ceremony.
Hong Hao, director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, and
Albert Ng, the firm's managing partner of China operations, signed the
contract.
Zhong said Shanghai Expo organizers need to absorb advanced concepts and
methods in financial management from home and abroad and try to reduce financial
risks, control project costs and adopt international conventions.
The organizers believed that E & Y will lift financial management
standards of Shanghai Expo and provide reliable financial information of the
event.
Hassett said the company has a professional team that is experienced in
providing consulting services on high profile international events. They will
have close cooperation with Expo organizers.
E & Y, a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory
services, has been the auditor for several Olympic Games.
