The International Development Information Network Association (Devnet) will
explore the role of international rescue operations in maintaining harmonious
lives in the face of natural disasters, it confirmed today while signing a
participation contract with Expo organizers.
The theme of the
2,000-square-meter pavilion will be "City Rescue and Harmonious Life --
Integrative International Communication & Cooperation."
The Rome, Italy-based association plans to display advanced anti-earthquake
and other disaster-prevention materials as well as environmental protection and
energy-saving technologies at the pavilion.
Devnet pays close attention
to helping people live better in safe and harmonious cities and how to reduce
destruction caused by natural disasters. It hopes to explore these issues at its
exhibition, an official of the association said.
The association will
also promote emergency rescue operations among the public and set up a "Japanese
Culture Street" and a "Italian Culture Street" to showcase different
cultures.
